Ondi

Ondi is a storyteller and artist from Kenya living in Pori in the Satakunta region. She has been working with various organisations as a volunteer, participant, and consultant including Think Africa and Globe Art Point. In the past Ondi has participated in the Think Africa mentorship program as a mentee to great success, she performed in Think Africa Week 2021, and is honoured to be part of the team organising this year’s Think Africa week. Ondi’s art is primarily concerned with the connection between human beings to each other, to nature, emotion, society and the systems therein. Her latest project ‘how do you feel’ is an art installation involving conversations with marginalised groups and portraying their stories in a multi-layered multi-sensory fashion. The aim of the installation is an expansion of empathy and understanding and is made possible through the Finnish Cultural Foundation’s Satakunta regional fund. Ondi is also working on a Think Africa journal which hopes to capture the creative and artistic perspective of people from the diaspora living in Finland. She strongly believes that through sharing poetry, photography, short stories, ideas and paintings the wider audience can connect and be inspired by stories they might not have otherwise encountered. Apart from the mentioned project Ondi is a passionate singer-songwriter performing with a band ‘yavu’ and by herself around Satakunta and Helsinki.
