Immortal Motherland

Like hope minted on the lips of our ancestors
Our dreams climb the peak of our mountains
Sweat of our toil exposes the tenderness of your hand mama
Into the abyss we sometimes stare
And our drops are rescued by your endlessness
You carry us Immortal Motherland

Escaped youth full of spent beginnings
Stopless knives aimlessly driven into our melanin
Carry us Immortal Motherland
You turn our bottomlines into headlines
Without you, our trodden crossings would be guardless

Experiments we are not, divided we never shall be
Our unity feeds on Immortal Motherland’s prayer
For beneath these abandoned skins is divine love
Brewed by rising above kill and plunder
Power and truth peeled layer by layer

From Immortal Motherland to our shadows
The fire in our veins cannot be quenched
As we embrace winter storms, we soar
We don’t turn negatives into…..no
We bring positive unto

Its time to cross the rubicon
Let’s live across the existences, break colourless bread
For we promise youJust as the African Immortal Motherland carries us
So will she carry you
