Professional Mentorship Program for Foreigners 2023

Are you an unemployed or underemployed foreigner in Finland looking to break into your field of expertise? Think Africa has you covered. We’re excited to announce the launch of our third edition of the Professional Mentorship Program for Foreigners 2023, running from April to June.

The program is open to people from all backgrounds and industries, not just those of African descent. We believe everyone deserves the chance to pursue their career goals, regardless of their background or circumstance.

The three-month program offers mentees the opportunity to work closely with experienced mentors who will help them set goals, build skills, and identify areas for growth. It combines one-on-one mentor and mentee meetings with expert-led training and peer support.

But this program isn’t just about matchmaking. We’ve developed a comprehensive training and support system to ensure mentors and mentees get the most out of their experience. Coaching sessions, workshops, and expert-led discussions on topics like discrimination, rejection, and coping mechanisms are all included in the program.

The results speak for themselves. In our last iteration in 2021, over 75% of mentees reported being happy with the outcome and managed to pursue careers in their field of training, with an increasing sense of belonging. Our program is not only rewarding for mentees, but also for mentors.

One of our former mentors, Data Scientist Jukka Toivanen, found the experience very useful and instructive. “Serving as a mentor is also a good way to deepen professional skills as you will reflect on your lessons learned in the profession.”
